The Foundresses Garden Gate, dedicated to Sister Brigid McCarthy, RSM, and Sister Donna Vaillancourt, RSM, is now complete! This beautiful gate offers a permanent way to welcome guests and honor the Sisters who faithfully followed God’s call to create Well of Mercy. For more than two decades, their ministry has provided a place of sanctuary for the weary and those seeking rest.
A Gate That Embraces All Who Enter
The arch of the gate welcomes visitors into the sacred stillness that Well of Mercy is known for, affectionately called its “signature Quiet.” Two stone pillars feature plaques that pay tribute to the Sisters, acknowledging their dedication to establishing this oasis. The iron gates, which open inward, extend a symbolic embrace to every guest who walks through them.
New Life Takes Root
With planting season on the horizon, the surrounding garden will soon begin to bloom, framed by large stones that outline the landscape. This lush addition will enhance the space, creating a tranquil environment that reflects the peace and renewal found within Well of Mercy.
Pause, Reflect, and Give Thanks
During your next visit to Well of Mercy, we invite you to pause at the gate as you make your way from the parking area to the houses. Take a moment to prayerfully give thanks for the legacy of Sisters Brigid and Donna, whose vision brought this sanctuary to life, offering peace amidst the chaos.
We hope the Foundresses Garden will continue to inspire every guest, reminding them of the love and devotion that created this sacred space.
