The Cup of Life: A Quiet Lenten Retreat

During the season of Lent, join us for the afternoon at Well of Mercy pondering the questions:

  • How does God want to fill my cup?
  • What is God calling me to do?
  • Am I ready to answer the call?

Reflect on your calling as local pottery and retired educator, Peter Strafaci guides us through a personal reflection and inspiration for Lent.

As Peter sat at his potter’s wheel, each chalice became a challenge as if he was creating something new for the first time. As the chalices grew in number, each one different from the last, Peter began to see his work went beyond the physical challenge of making each chalice. He saw that each one began to have its own personality, its own sacredness, its own voice just as Christ sees us.

Through the chalices, we will reflect on the “call” we receive and how we might answer as well as reflect on the spiritual challenge in Matthew: 20: 20-23, ‘Can you drink the cup…?’.  He will delve into our willingness to “drink” life’s joys and sorrows as Jesus did in His life, death and resurrection.

Peter will explore, with his audience, the practical steps in journeying, accepting, and understanding the drinking from our own chalices.

There will be an opportunity to enjoy the Well treasures during this afternoon program.
