Over the past four months, we’ve journeyed together, reflecting on the butterfly’s transformation, recognizing ourselves in the process. Transformation can be welcomed by some and feared by others, but we know change is inevitable. The challenge lies in accepting each stage of the process and trusting that God will support us through it.
Trusting the Cocoon Season
Recently, I spoke with a young friend about her butterfly-like transformation. Just before COVID, she lost her job and moved out of state to stay with her husband’s family during quarantine. During that season, she was anxious—unsure of when they’d return home or how she’d find a new job. Reflecting back, she said, “If only I had relaxed during that time of waiting (cocooning) instead of constantly worrying about the future. It all turned into a beautiful gift.”
The Gifts of Each Butterfly Stage
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the gifts that come with each stage of transformation:
- Egg: New beginnings, full of potential and promise
- Caterpillar: Nurturing ourselves as we inch along the path
- Chrysalis: A time to rest, held in a loving season of transformation
- Emergence: The struggle of becoming our higher selves
Spreading Our Wings and Taking Flight
The time has come to spread our wings and take flight, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Taking flight represents freedom, growth, and the pursuit of our purpose.
Embrace Change
Recognize the growth you’ve experienced and remain open to the new opportunities life offers.
Be Courageous
Step beyond your comfort zone and take bold, intentional steps toward your goals.
Celebrate Freedom
Enjoy the new freedom that transformation brings. Celebrate each success, no matter how small.
Trusting God in Every Season
Whatever phase of transformation you’re in—whether waiting, nurturing, or emerging—know that God is with you in each step. Embrace the gift of the present moment, trusting that it’s preparing you for what lies ahead.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
~ Ephesians 2:10
